Technologies
Down Ultra-Dry 850+ Loft
The highest-performance down used in all Sea to Summit sleeping bags. The 850+ expanding power means that one ounce (30 g) of down will expand by more than 850 cubic inches after compression. A higher expanding power means that less down can be used to achieve the same temperature, which is important for performance sleeping bags. Down and down quality/composition are independently tested by the International Down and Feather Laboratory (IDFL) - a copy of the certification is supplied with every Sea to Summit sleeping bag. The down is responsibly sourced, RDS certified and treated with the environmentally friendly Ultra-Dry Down treatment.
Quiltlock System
The QuiltLock system uses pressure clips placed at the shoulder and foot ends of Sea to Summit sleeping bags, along with the down foot box and down straps to attach a down duvet to the sleeping bag. This adds thermal performance and versatility to your sleeping system: your integrated duvet now works for ultralight summer adventures and turns your three-season sleeping bag into a four-season sleeping system.
Non PFC C0 DWR
Most products have already switched to non-PFC C0 water-repellent finishes and in 2023, tents and storage systems will follow them. The goal is to use 100 per cent PFC-free C0 water-repellent finishes by 2025.
RDS Certified Down
The aim of the Responsible Down Standard (RDS) is to guarantee the consumer that the down and feathers used for filling are obtained from animals that have not been subjected to treatment that causes pain, suffering or stress. The "RDS" control procedure includes the entire production chain and extends to: breeding, collection and processing of the feathers (selection, dedusting, thorough washing, removal of excess water, drying). Production of artefacts, traceability: all stages of the supply chain must be managed to ensure that certified products are not confused with others and/or substituted. This allows the end customer to see on the R.D.S. website which companies are certified. Ferrino will also be on this list.
